To take great care of your nails you will want to first take care of your cuticles. It is best to use an oil or cuticle cream. Try to look for a product that contains Vitamin E since this will help rehydrate if you have dry cuticles. Vitamin E also helps to increase good blood circulation.

Of course you will always want to keep your hands clean. Avoid using water that is too hot. I recommend using the Foaming Hand Soap from Whole Foods. It is made with shea butter, vitamin E, aloe vera and pure essential oils.

Never peel off your nail polish. No matter how tempting it is you will always want to use acetone with a cotton ball. For gel manicures they can be removed by using a little cotton ball with acetone wrapped in foil for 10-15 minutes.

Using a base coat and top coat with your manicure can protect the nail polish color from being absorbed and to not make your nails become too dry.

Your nails also need vitamins, especially vitamins A, B and C. These vitamins help your nails grow and prevent breakages and hang nails. Fish oil can also be used to improve your nails and hair.

Disinfect your nail tools by washing with water and soap and then using some rubbing alcohol. Always replace any older tools that look warn or may have built up some rust or discoloration.
