Mothers are kind, nurturing, people-pleaser types of human beings. They always seem to take care of everyone else, leaving themselves for last or forgetting altogether to take care of themselves. For moms, the list of things to do can go on and on. When can they find the time to care for their emotional, mental and physical wellbeing with everything they need to do for their home, kids, partner and pets? Here’s a secret, YOU make the time! Don’t wait to see if anyone will give you the time or wait to see if, after all you have to do, you’ll have some downtime to read that book, get a pedicure or simply go into the kitchen for a glass of wine.
Being a mother does not mean you have to forget about yourself or forget how awesome and beautiful you are. So make the time to unwind and give yourself permission to step away from your motherly duties even if it’s just two hours a week. Trust me, the house will be ok, and the husband and children will still be alive. If you are at your happiest, your family will benefit from your positive energy rippling over them.
Here’s a list of things you can do to pamper yourself! It’s highly recommended that you send your partner off with the kids for errands, a visit to the park, or to a family member’s home so that you can have at least two hours of uninterrupted time.
Download the Soothe App
Soothe is a wonderful app providing a list of massage therapists in your area. You can book a massage to be given in the comfort of your home. The service is very professional, and I find most providers are physical therapists, which is definitely a plus.
Take a Long Relaxing Bath With Soothing Music
Add lavender bath salts, rose petals and rose oil to your bathtub soak will have you feeling like the goddess you are. Music will provide spa ambiance and an extra dose of relaxation.
A Glass of Wine and a Guided Meditation
If you have never listened to a guided meditation, this may be a sign to start. There’s plenty of free web links in a wide variety on YouTube. Look deep within and ask yourself, which part of your life are you trying to be better at or feel happier in and look for that meditation topic. The wine will add to your experience!
Cheers!
